So Frack is the smaller of the two…yet she always picks on Frick (who is like 30% bigger)  I guess it’s Frack trying to show her dominance.  There is nothing to worry about though as there is no blood or missing ears/legs/eyes whatever…so it’s all harmless atm…but I’m keeping a watchful eye on the two of them just to make sure.   Another thing is that Frack still tries to bite me when I try to pick her up but Frick is all cool and welcomes my hand…go fig.  I hope Frick will get over her hand biting thing soon…

Frazz The Hamster… http://www.chunker.net/2009/11/24/r-i-p-frazz-the-hamster/ http://www.chunker.net/2009/11/24/r-i-p-frazz-the-hamster/#comments Wed, 25 Nov 2009 00:06:40 +0000 Chunker http://www.chunker.net/?p=357 This morning I had wondered why I haven’t seen Frazz in a couple of days…so I walk over to her cage and pick up her house…she sorta fell out of her house.  When I looked down at her the first thing I noticed was an odd smell andafter I had a good look at [...]]]> This morning I had wondered why I haven’t seen Frazz in a couple of days…so I walk over to her cage and pick up her house…she sorta fell out of her house.  When I looked down at her the first thing I noticed was an odd smell andafter I had a good look at her though…it was obvious that she had passed on.  I like to think I gave her a good life.  She had a hamster wheel, lots food and water, lots of treats, soft bedding and a house to live in.  She was a very kind and docile hamster too…I could pick her up and pet her to my heart’s content and she’d just sit there starting at me wondering where her treat was…=)  I am a bit puzzled as to why she died so young as I got her in April of this year.  Anyway…here’s to Frazz The Hamster!! You will be missed.

I have no words for this…I went over to look to see what Frazz was up too and what do I see?  I see Frazz asleep holding a seed…yes folks…she fell asleep WHILE eating.

The only thing I don’t like about Syrian Hamsters is that you cannot keep them in same sex pairs i.e. two boys or two girls…cause if you do they will fight to the death.  Robos and Dwarf Hamsters however will live (most of the time) happily together and play with each other.  Why [...]]]>

The only thing I don’t like about Syrian Hamsters is that you cannot keep them in same sex pairs i.e. two boys or two girls…cause if you do they will fight to the death.  Robos and Dwarf Hamsters however will live (most of the time) happily together and play with each other.  Why did I not get a dwarf hamster then?  Because they tend to bit/nip more than the Syrians do when they are being carried or so I’ve read anyway.  And I really don’t like being bit for no good reason =) So one thing that really surprised me about my hamster is that I never would have thought a hamster would just want to chill/sleep/eat/do whatever in a jar…yet as you can see in the picture there…she’s snoozin’ away.  Go fig.

]]> http://www.chunker.net/2009/04/23/meet-frazz/feed/ 0 Lesson learned… http://www.chunker.net/2009/03/24/lesson-learned/ http://www.chunker.net/2009/03/24/lesson-learned/#comments Wed, 25 Mar 2009 06:56:34 +0000 Chunker http://www.chunker.net/?p=163 So like…Frazzy (my pet hamster) likes apples.  So being the good pet owner that I am…I cut off a slice of the apple I’m eating and give it to her…to which she happily accepts and chomps down on.  I go back and do some work o the computer and a few hours later I [...]]]> So like…Frazzy (my pet hamster) likes apples.  So being the good pet owner that I am…I cut off a slice of the apple I’m eating and give it to her…to which she happily accepts and chomps down on.  I go back and do some work o the computer and a few hours later I wanna play with her so I stick my hand in and she sniffs my hand as she always does.  I lay my hand flat so to see if she’ll walk on it so I can pick her up and she then opens her mouth REALLY wide and tries to chomp down on my finger!  I actually felt teeth…but I pulled away fast enuff.  Now you maybe thinking GET RID OF THE BITING HAMSTER!!!  But in all reality I for got the cardinal rule of hamsters…always wash your hands before handling…because they may smell food on your hands and try to eat it =)  See…hamsters are near sighted and rely on their sense of smell and hearing to guide them…so if something in front of them smells like food…they’re gonna try and eat it =)  So the lesson today boys and girls is…always always always wash your hands before picking up your hamstesr.
