So like…Frazzy (my pet hamster) likes apples. So being the good pet owner that I am…I cut off a slice of the apple I’m eating and give it to her…to which she happily accepts and chomps down on. I go back and do some work o the computer and a few hours later I wanna play with her so I stick my hand in and she sniffs my hand as she always does. I lay my hand flat so to see if she’ll walk on it so I can pick her up and she then opens her mouth REALLY wide and tries to chomp down on my finger! I actually felt teeth…but I pulled away fast enuff. Now you maybe thinking GET RID OF THE BITING HAMSTER!!! But in all reality I for got the cardinal rule of hamsters…always wash your hands before handling…because they may smell food on your hands and try to eat it =) See…hamsters are near sighted and rely on their sense of smell and hearing to guide them…so if something in front of them smells like food…they’re gonna try and eat it =) So the lesson today boys and girls is…always always always wash your hands before picking up your hamstesr.
