Because I don’t want to look at that other post…it just depresses me…I’m gonna try to push it off my screen by posting this video from you tube…=)
I’ve always known that we’re just specks of dust when it comes to the universe…but I never could really see in my head just how small we were. I stumbled upon this video on you tube a while back and while there are many like I personally think this is the best one out of them all. But anyway…after seeing this video…I really cannot even begin to imagine how people can believe that we are the ONLY beings in this entire universe. I just doesn’t make any sense to me.
I remember when I was a part of Young Life (a Christian youth group) they tried to teach me various things…the two things that really bothered me were that I could have friends that were not Christian…I shouldn’t date somebody that wasn’t…and hinted heavily that I shouldn’t be friends with them either. I couldn’t understand this at all and they could not provide me with an answer that made any sense. The second thing they tried to push on me was that we are the ONLY beings in this entire universe. When I asked why they said that after extensive research and looking at the magnetic flow of the universe…that there was no way that life could form anywhere but here. After those two things…I stopped attending the meetings.
Anyway…here’s the video…please enjoy. =)
Oh yes…quote of the day…

Nice post. I totally agree about the Christian thing – those were the same reasons I stopped going to church too! Knowing what small specs of dust we are in an infinitely large universe, it is downright stupid to think that we are the only sentient beings. And I can only date/be friends with other Christians? WTF, sounds like a cult to me. Churches sponsor Christian only singles cruises, etc, just to breed and raise more christian families.. more money and people for them to control that way, I guess!
On top of which.. if I were born in asia, I grow up buddhist. If I’m born in India, I’d be Hindi. If I were born in Spain, I’d be catholic. If I’m born in the US, I’m likely Christian.
Why does region have such influence on my eternal fate? All of those religious would say I’d go in hell for being part of another religion. So much for heaven, eh?
Well…religion does fill a roll…people as a whole need to belive in something bigger than themselves. They need to know that life doesn’t end when they die…cause if life ended at death…then why go on living?
It’s also a convenient way to control people…if you tell somebody that eating pork is bad for their health…they’ll eat it anyway cause it tastes good. Tell that same person that God says you should not eat pork…dollars to doughnuts they won’t eat pork.
